Business Visa
Ideal for entrepreneurs exploring opportunities, negotiating contracts, or preparing to establish operations in Colombia.
Benefit
180 days stay in Colombia per year continuous or discontinues (length of the visa up to 2 years renewable) to plan and execute your investment — conduct market research, negotiate, sign contracts, and incorporate your company
Basic requirement
Proof of the business activity you’ll carry out (meetings, negotiations, incorporation, among others).
Specific requirements
- A Business Visa may be applied for either with the sponsorship of a company incorporated outside Colombia or by the applicant directly.
- If the application is sponsored by a foreign company, the following must be provided: The company’s bank statements for the last three (3) months, evidencing sufficient financial solvency, including average monthly account inflows of at least USD 54,000.
- If the application is sponsored directly by the applicant, the following must be provided: The applicant’s personal bank statements for the last six (6) months, evidencing average monthly account transactions of at least USD 4,000.

Business Owner Visa
Designed for entrepreneurs and shareholders who actively own and manage Colombian companies.
Benefit
Legal right to live in Colombia and work — exclusively within your own company. Bring your spouse and dependent children as visa beneficiaries. Time counts toward permanent residency
Basic requirement
Investment or shareholding in an operating Colombian company of at least 100 monthly minimum wages (SMMLV) (USD53,800) plus proof the company is active
Validity
Up to 3 years, renewable

Investor Visa
For foreign investors making qualifying investments in Colombia without participating in daily operations.
Benefit
Legal residency based purely on your registered investment, no operational role required. Time counts toward permanent residency (after 5 years as visa holder)
Basic requirement
Registered real estate investment or direct foreign investment above the minimum threshold set each year by the government
Validity
Up to 3 years, renewable while the investment is maintained

Work Visa
Allows executives, managers, and specialized employees to legally work for Colombian companies.
Benefit
Lets your team work legally in Colombia, formally employed with full labor benefits (social security, healthcare, pension). Time counts toward permanent residency
Basic requirement
A valid employment contract with a Colombian company. Corporate bank statements — preceding four (4) months must reflect a minimum monthly average balance of one hundred (100) statutory minimum monthly wages (SMMLV) — equivalent to approximately USD 53,800.
Specific requirements
If the employee will be practicing a regulated profession in Colombia, they must have their degree recognized (validated) in Colombia. However, I understand that this is not the case. Therefore, no additional permit will be required.
Validity
Up to 3 years, tied to the specific employer and role — essential for relocating leadership or specialized staff.

Digital Nomad Visa
For professionals and entrepreneurs working remotely while living in Colombia.
Benefit
Live legally in Colombia while working remotely for income earned abroad. Includes your spouse and dependent children as beneficiaries. Fast, fully online application
Basic requirement
Proof of foreign-sourced income of at least 3 minimum monthly wages (SMMLV), approximately USD $1,600/month (subject to exchange rate), plus health insurance with repatriation coverage
Validity
Up to 2 years, renewable — does not permit paid work for Colombian companies or clients, and does not count toward permanent residency

Do I need to be in Colombia to apply?
No. It is not necessary to be physically present in Colombia to apply for a Colombian visa. The entire application process is completed remotely. At the time of submitting the application, you must indicate the country where you are currently located so that your case can be assigned to the nearest Colombian Consulate for processing, if applicable.
Can my family come with me?
Yes, most of these visas allow you to include your spouse and dependent children as beneficiaries.
Does this lead to permanent residency?
Time spent under some visa categories counts toward Colombia’s permanent residency visa.
